KICK-START is a live music club in Malmö, Sweden, that showcases the best up and coming local bands. The club has enabled many strong acts to take the stage throughout the years, including The Ark, Sahara Hotnights, MF/MB, Tingsek, and many more. This spring, KICK-START will be engaging fans to take part in booking some of the best, new, local bands around, through Emues.
In other words, KICK-START is inviting YOU to be a part of ensuring bands get to play live at Babel, Malmö, for an audience that loves them.
The KICK-START season premier is this Thursday, February 27th, at Babel, with Stars in Coma, Poplöst, The Camisards and The Valottes. The latter two bands have been successfully booked by the people through Emues! Don’t miss out, and get your tickets here. Below is the whole season’s line up.
2013 has turned into 2014 and we’re up for new meetings with inspiring people, like all the creative people we met last year. One example of a large amount of creativity and DIY-spirit is our newest venue. Meet Kulturhuset Framtiden in Linköping. I had a little chat with them where they present themselves and their activities.
To begin with, we’re so glad to have you guys with us on Emues!
Yeah, thanks a lot for hooking us up!
Who and what is Framtiden? How did it all start?
Kulturhuset Framtiden was started and is run by our small collective Streetexpressions, based in Östergötland, Sweden. Streetex is me Adrian Pettersson, and my buddies Pär Carlsson, Andreas von Knudelhausen, Julius Nord and Sebastian Galo, we make art, music, tattoos, host events and more. We’ve been a crew since 2010 and have, since the beginning, talked about finding some place to have our studios and, if there’s enough room, run a small, independent art gallery where we can exhibit artist we like and throw small parties.
As soon as we started looking for real we found this enormous old warehouse-space where we really could fulfill our dreams, and more. We opened in June 2013.

Emues Activists believe in the power of live music, in the power of people coming together and creating something beautiful. We believe that live music should be available for any fans who have the will to make it possible. Together we’re making it happen. Emues Acivists are creatives, who use their individual skills to contribute to the world of live music. As an Emues Activist:
- your creativity is the driving force and you will get the credit for the outcome.
- you engage artists, venues, and fans in your community (even if that is your global community – at Emues there are no limits) to book shows, tours, & gigs.
- you will become a part of a growing network and showcase your skills to the world.
- you will be given support from Emues staff to create unforgettable events booked by fans.
- you will be included in the global team of Activists contributing content to the Emues blog and social media channels.
- your imagination is the limit.
Right now we are looking for Emues Activists to join our global crew. We are seeking creative individuals who are passionate about music and want to join a global movement creating live music events booked by the people. Wherever you are in the world, if you believe you fit the description above, please let us know by sending an email to email@example.com.
As a way to capture more of what Emues is all about and what we’re up to, we’ve created an Emues Storify. Check out our first story: “This Is Emues“.

Emues gives people a new way to book concerts. The idea is that if there are enough people who want to see a band in a particular city the show is on! Anyone can suggest a gig. Once a suggestion has been accepted by the artist and the venue, tickets are up for sale and the concert gets booked once enough people have bought tickets. This is a way to minimize risk and secure an income for artists and venues. In other words, Emues is a sort of crowdfunding for gigs.
Whether you are an artist, venue or fan, the suggestion is only the first step. How do you ensure that the concert becomes reality?
Here is a guide we’ve put together to help you succeed in crowdfunding a gig through Emues.
