People say there’s always a first time for everything.
With EMUES, last week, there was a first time for 2 things: the first EXPIRED gig and the first SOLD OUT gig.
The suggestion was up to see Crying Day Care Choir and Frantic Sunday and the amazing people at Rockfoto got onboard and would also put up an awesome exhibition together with the gig, all at STPLN.
Tomas, from Frantic Sunday, invited everybody to get together and make it happen and by the deadline, unfortunately, not enough tickets got sold. Because of that, there will be no gig for them or exhibtion.
EMUES has empowered about 500 people to make over 8 concerts happen for more than 21 bands in the last 5 months. There was more live music available, in more places, to more fans who wanted to see their favorite artist live in their town. All this is only possible because of YOU! Is this a trend coming up? It seems that in Malmö, music lovers have adopted Emues concept and crowd suggested gigs are happening more and more often.
This time, the suggested bands were Tim the Lion Tamer and Stars in Coma, who played at STPLN on the 3rd edition of The Night Starts Here. Another cozy Friday night pre-party at STPLN with people gathering to enjoy live music. Anna Tenfält took care of the music in between as the DJ of the night.
First off on stage was Tim the Lion Tamer and we have 1 word for his music: smooth. That voice is just the type of voice that one can’t get enough of. Prior to the gig, Tim went on his Facebook Fan Page with a fun voting for which song he should cover live and the most voted was Flume, by Bon Iver, which sounded flawless in his interpretation. He also sang a few of the other suggested covers, which the crowd appreciated. Beautiful voice and melody. It was the perfect start for that night… Stars in Coma took the stage next with their unpredictable pop. You thought you knew, but you had no idea: they took the crowd by surprise with their hyper beats, getting everybody to laugh and move their feet in a very uptempo performance. They definitely had the outfit and the performance to be remembered!
More pictures of this gig are available on the Emues flickr page or on our Facebook Fan Page. Check it out!
if YOU make it happen, of course. Maisa Dabus suggested this gig, so if like her, you’d also like to see them live, you can make it happen by getting tickets now.

Friday’s concert at STPLN was completely booked by the audience. It’s a great thing for the music of Sweden. We take a big step towards the innovative live scene through this.
The Guide, with its gentle tones cover your body with the softest cotton and leaves no interested. Something that was hard to believe was that this was the first time Johan Falkenberg along with his new band forming ‘The Guide’ played live. It was with great self-esteem and instinctive ability they formed their melodies. This is something we deeply look forward to!
Stina Künstlicher creates music with the look that one rarely encounters in today’s society, these little made-up eyes. By relating to important Swedish poets and writers, Stina sang with the full consideration and rhetorical meeting songs of the great and the little in life. Something that got the receiver to think, laugh and look around.
And to keep the music around the whole night, DJ Offbeat was right on with every beat. Music was all around.
With two completed “The Night Starts Here“, we hope with STPLN that there will be other nights where we can begin the evening with you, because it’s you who make it possible, right?

Some of the bands registered on Emues are keeping themselves very busy. Fredrik was touring in California, Woodstripe just got back in Sweden from touring in San Francisco. Skilla did 3 gigs in a row for Schools. It looks like they had a blast!
And what a great night it was: tables, couches and candles were in place to set a cozy atmosphere to all who came to enjoy good music and kick off their pre-party with us this last Friday here in Malmö.
They came in with their own drinks and gathered with friends to the sound of Andrea Arvidsson (Doc Lounge/Gaffa/Rockfoto) and Elisabeth Östin (Psychedelic Flu), who welcomed everybody with the most inspiring female voices on folk-rock, pop and punk!
First on stage was Rovi, dressed in red, behind her keyboard, singing her beautiful songs along with Mattis, who would perform next. It was a warming and intimate performance, getting the audience to dive into her lyrics and melody along with her.
Mattis took on the stage next and we could all feel her strong presence: she sang and entertained the audience with good music and good stories, which she shared in between her songs. She got everybody laughing and engaged during her whole performance!
Linnea Jonsson was closing the night with her magic guitar and voice. Beautiful songs empowered with her acoustic guitar solos that got everybody dreaming away.
The crew at STPLN were amazing, thinking through each detail to make the night just perfect!
We’d like to thank everybody involved. We’re looking forward for the upcoming editions of The Night Starts Here at STPLN.
